(Eight week sessions from September through June)

Offering small, interactive classes in the relaxed setting of my own studio.
These classes are for children and teens ages 9-18  who love to draw, have demonstrated an interest in drawing realism, and want to develop their realistic drawing and painting skills. Classes are grouped generally by grade. While honing our observation skills, we will create  realistic still lifes, landscapes and portraits from models and photographs.  Through observation, students will learn to see objects with an artist's eyes and  use values, color, line, proportion and effective composition to create beautiful realistic drawings and paintings with a variety of media including pastels, water colors and acrylics.

Parent Reviews:

  • "I was able to observe Ms. Higgins' art class first hand... Teresa is so experienced that she can anticipate the typical 'sticky point' in a lesson and guide students with warmth and good humor to achieve positive results. And it works! In fact, she finds ways to bring her students to levels of ability that they never imagined possible." - Elizabeth Wellington, Ph.D. Wellseley, MA

  • "She encourages her students to take risks artistically which assists them in becoming more independent thinkers" - Karen Stunkel, LMHC Natick, MA

Lucy Branagan was a winner in the Young Arts national competition. See her

Since 1980, the National YoungArts Foundation has been proud to partner with educators, after school, summer, and community arts programs to seek out, identify and recognize emerging outstanding young artistic talent.   YoungArts looks forward to having more of your students apply in future years, and hopes that we may have the opportunity to thank you in person at a future YoungArts event in either Miami, New York City or Los Angeles.

I look forward to hearing from you.  Thank you.
